With the new 3-D Secure safety standard, you will be redirected to the website of your bank where you will be asked additional information that you alone are expected to know.

(Each bank is free to choose its means of authentication)

If the information provided is correct, the transaction is validated. The payment is accepted and you will be redirected to the website Export Privé.

An email will be sent to your inbox to confirm your purchase.

With Moneybookers, each credit card transaction is verified by 3-D Secure. If the bank of the credit card holder is not registered with 3-D Secure, the transaction will be automatically canceled.

What is 3-D Secure ?


3D Secure is a protocol created by Visa and MasterCard that is implemented on merchants' websites to provide additional security for credit card payments online. This security standard protects the cardholder and the merchant from misuse of credit card data.

The 3D Secure is designed to secure your payments over the Internet by asking you to identify yourself with a personal password for each payment to ensure that you are the holder of the card. Your authentication is the systematic recording of a personal code, at each payment made on merchants' sites. MasterCard brand their system as 'MasterCard SecureCode' and Visa call theirs 'Verified by Visa'. Both Maestro and Solo now also support 3D Secure.

 

How does 3-D Secure work ?


1. The buyer selects the payment method by credit card.

2. In the billing form, the buyer types his credit card's informations.

3. The buyer is redirected to his bank's website and must confirm his identity by typing in a code.

4. Two scenarios are possible: the authentication is validated and the buyer is redirected to the merchant's website. The authentication has not been validated and the transaction is canceled.

 

 

I'm asked to enter my personal authentication code for 3-D Secure. Is this normal ?


Yes. According to the bank that issued your card, you will either see a window (or pop-up), or be redirected to your bank's website. In most current implementations of 3-D Secure, the issuing bank or its ACS provider prompts the buyer for a password that is known only to the bank/ACS provider and the buyer. Since the merchant does not know this password and is not responsible for capturing it, it can be used by the issuing bank as evidence that the purchaser is indeed their cardholder.

Almost all credit cards are now 3-D Secure protected.

Do I need to register for 3-D Secure ?


No. You do not need to register with your bank for this service. The 3-D Secure service is activated automatically when you make a first payment on any merchant's website.

 

Why should I give my personal details when registering to 3-D Secure?


By providing your personal data, you are guaranteed to be the only person authorized to register your credit card with 3-D Secure.

 

What information do I need to provide when registering to 3-D Secure ?


In general, the following data are required for registering to 3-D Secure:

Your name as it appears on your credit card;

The CVV of your credit card (the three digits security code on the back of your credit card);

The expiry date of your credit card;

The account number of your credit card;

Your date of birth.

 

Can I pay by credit card without going through 3-D Secure ?


Yes. If you experience problems at the authentication stage of 3-D Secure, you can use our other payment system by credit card - Alertpay.

With this system, you will not be redirected to the server of your bank and you will be able to make your purchase normally without going through the 3-D Secure verification.

 

How much costs 3-D Secure ?


Nothing. It's free.

 

Do I need to download a software to use 3-D Secure ?


No. The 3-D Secure is integrated into the server of your bank. You will be automatically redirected to the website of your bank to enter your 3-D Secure PIN.

 

How long lasts the whole 3-D Secure process ?


The 3-D Secure authentication process only takes a few seconds more than a transaction without 3-D Secure.

 

Why my transaction has failed ?


There could be various reasons. Here are the most common errors:

Make sure you are registered with 3-D Secure by contacting your bank.

Make sure you enter the same information you have provided your bank.

Check with your bank if your updated data (eg the expiry date, date of birth and CVV) is correct.

If you have two credit cards, make sure to register each card separately.

If you are issued a new card, you must re-register your new card.

If you have just received a renewed card, you do not need to register again as the number of the card remains the same. However, if the card number is different, you must register again for 3-D Secure.

If you enter your password incorrectly three times, your credit card will be blocked for online purchases only for security reasons. You'll need to re-enroll your card with 3-D Secure by contacting your bank.

We advise you to check with your bank the reason for the failed operation.

 

Will my card be charged for a failed transaction ?


No amount will be charged on your credit card.

 

My card is blocked. Why and what should I do ?


If you enter your password incorrectly three times, your credit card will be permanently blocked from buying online for security reasons and you must renew your registration with your bank. Of course, you can continue to use your credit card in stores.

I entered the correct 3-D Secure information, but I am not redirected to Export Privé's website.

The authentication failed and the transaction has been abandoned. At this point, your credit card will not be charged. There could be many reasons why the transaction has been abandoned.We advise you to check with your bank the reason for the failed operation.
